Avoiding the Obvious
Aging Images
Photo Analysis
- Feelings/mood- The photo to the left was taken in the pouring rain with a long zoom lens in order to not disturb the birds. They obviously were in a happy mood, despite the rain.
- Subject placement- As challenging as they are, doing photos that are "unobvious" is rewarding in the end. I allows you to see everyday things with new eyes.
- Multi-layered - Using the paper bag overlay definitely adds some depth. Taking photos of everyday objects seemed difficult to capture multiple layers. Probably the one that shows a little depth was my "The Lookout" above.
- Depth of field- I played around quite a lot with aperture, especially during the rain. My favorite that turned out is the one underneath the dandelion.
- Light- Lighting really does make a difference, even though I was unable to capture it this time, except with the dandelion. I find myself with a weakness for getting out at the right time to capture the dawn and dusk lights.
- Improvement- While I really liked the aging technique, I would like to use it on a portrait next time. Using it on green trees tends to loose the effect in the detail.
